Energy Audit Levels and Pricing
Level I-The basic walk through:
This is a very basic inspection where we will look for “obvious” areas in which you can improve your homes efficiency. This inspection will include:
A short homeowner interview
We ask a few simple questions about your home and your objectives.
Interior and exterior inspection
We look for obvious energy inefficiencies and
maintenance issues both inside and outside your home,
in your basement or crawlspace and in your attic. We are looking for items such as high wattage lighting, un-insulated hot water pipes, disconnected duct work, moisture problems and leaky doors and windows. We will also check for gas leaks in exposed lines. A lot of the problems we find can be corrected by the homeowner.
Insulation inspection
We will take a look at the current condition and levels of your Insulation and
make recommendations based on our findings.
Utility bill analysis
We look at your last 12 months of utility bills, determine your baseload, heating and cooling loads, then determine what areas you need to focus on.
Level I Price - $149.00
Level II-The blower door and infrared scan:
This level includes level I-the basic walk through plus:
A blower door test
This tests the “tightness” of your home. We depressurize your home and pull in
outside air in order to locate deficiencies in your home’s thermal boundary.
Essentially we are locating the pathways that conditioned air escapes your home,
where hot air enters in the summer and cold air enters in the winter.
Infrared scan
we will use an infrared camera in conjunction with the blower door to help pin point
problem areas. The camera will help us locate air leaks, gaps in the insulation and in
some cases, moisture problems that would otherwise be invisible to the naked eye. It is amazing what this technology will enable us to see.
Level II Price - $395.00
Blower door test and infrared scan only: Price-$295
Level III - The comprehensive energy audit:
This is an energy audit following BPI (Building Performance Institute) standards. It not only detects areas in your home where you can cut down on wasted energy, but it also includes tests that are essential in the health and safety of your home. This level of service includes both level I - the basic walk through and level II - the blower door and infrared scan plus:
Combustion appliance safety (CAZ) inspection
We will perform a carbon monoxide test, draft
measurement, spillage evaluation, a worst- case depressurization of the
combustion appliance zone and an efficiency test of your gas/oil appliances.
BAS (building airflow standard) calculation
We will calculate the minimum amount of ventilation
required for your home and then assess how your home compares using data collected from the blower door. Recommendations will be made based on our findings.
Water efficiency test
We will test the flow rate of your faucets and shower heads.
Pressure diagnostics
We will perform additional tests with both the blower door and with your air handler in order to better locate air leaks and imbalances within your heating
and air system
Level III Price - $495.00
CAZ only:
We will perform a carbon monoxide test, draft measurement,
spillage evaluation, a worst- case depressurization of the combustion
appliance zone and an efficiency test of your gas/oil appliances.
Price - $125.00
A written report including our findings along with recommendations is either delivered, mailed or emailed to the homeowner within five business days for each level of service. A 10% discount applies to Levels I, II and III for teachers, law enforcement, fire fighters and military,
